“Looking around the room, I see the joy dancing and exercise brings to each individual, and it makes my workday as a physical therapist worthwhile.”
My name is Mary Beth Brown, but a lot of my friends and fellow instructors know me as MB for short. I’m a Roanoke native and started my dance journey at the age of 3 at Ardell Stone School of Dancing. I went on to dance in college as a member of the RU Rockers Dance Team.
After graduating with my B.S. in Sports Medicine. In May 2011, I put my dancing on hold while I focused on my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. While I tried dropping into numerous adult dance classes, nothing filled the void.
I moved back to Roanoke in November of 2012 to complete my clinical affiliations for PT school and one of my old dance friends told me I needed to come and try Zumba® class with her. Before the warm up was over, I knew that this would be my outlet to bring dance back into my life.
Being a physical therapist, I have seen the affects of immobility, and I have heard all of the excuses. When I come to classes with the Just Dance Roanoke team, I am inspired. Looking around the room, I see the joy dancing and exercise brings to each individual, and it makes my workday as a physical therapist worthwhile.
I am honored to be a part of Just Dance Roanoke, and I look forward to start teaching with this amazing instructor team. Hope to see you in class soon!
