What or who inspired you to become an instructor?
I have always love to dance and I feel in love with JDR the first class I took. My first class was with Maria Diavolitsis at Jefferson College of Health Sciences. Taking class made me happy and I wanted to share that joy with others. With the persuasion of a few people, I decided to audition to become an instructor at JDR.
What is your most memorable JDR experience?
My most memorable JDR experience was when Sara, Antonia, and I flew to Orlando for the Zumba Convention in 2014. We were able to take classes and learn choreography from some of the top names in Zumba. This experience was beyond amazing and helped me learn so much more about each style of dance. It made my love for dance grow so much stronger!!
Who are your dance & fitness role models and inspiration?
In Zumba my top role model is Kass Martin. I maybe a little or a lot obsessed with her. I was able to take some of her classes at Zumba Convention. She were absolutely amazing! I would love to take another class from her. Another role model or inspiration of mine would be Nappytabs. I love their choreography and have always wanted to take a class from them. I just haven’t had the chance to yet.
What is your favorite song we do in class?
Sheila Ki Jawani
What have you learned from being on the JDR Team?
I have learned that it is important to put yourself first sometimes. It is also important not to compare yourself to others. Be the best version of yourself that you can be!
What does being an instructor mean to you?
Being an instructor means the world to me! It has brought the love of dance back to me after I lost it for a few years after high school. It has brought me the confidence that I never had throughout my teens. It has brought so much joy into my life being able to dance and to watch other people grow and over come their obstacles. Seeing the participates happy make me feel like I am doing my job right.
