JDR Spotlight is a series where we get introduce you to some of our JDR Junkies. This gives you the chance to see the variety of participants we have at Just Dance Roanoke and allows you to get to know your dancing BFF’s a little better.
Meet Whitney Shell! A self-proclaimed workout junkie and JDR addict, Whitney has taken over 600 classes since we opened our doors at the studio. She’s a regular attendee at our Wake n’ Shake 5:30am classes (because the early bird gets the worm, right?). Whitney is rarely without a smile on her face and is such a sweet soul to have around! Less than 400 dances left until you make it to the Land of 1000 Dances, Whitney, and we’ll be here to cheer you on the whole way!
Who or what brought you to your first class at JDR?
I discovered JDR when Alison was teaching in the basement of Green Memorial Church (one of the first JDR non-gym locations) instantly was hooked! I followed JDR around taking classes here and there until the studio opened.
What is your favorite JDR event you’ve attended?
My favorite JDR event has to be the Party in Pink events! So fun and for such a wonderful cause!
Favorite piece of JDR swag you own?
My favorite piece of JDR swag is my 500 club sweatshirt.
Favorite outfit to twerk-out in?
I am pretty basic and dress for comfort and to stay cool. I always wear a JDR shirt and capri leggings. I like anything that is bright!
Favorite song/genre to dance to in class?
I like them all so it is hard to pick one! My all-time favorite song is “Hit the Floor”. It makes you work hard and you feel it afterwards! I have been known to request that for a 5:30 am class!
Anything else you’d like the JDR family to know about you?
I am a work out “junkie” and always looking for a new adventure or class to keep me moving! Don’t make excuses not to work out….there is always “some” time that you can squeeze a workout in. It may not be your typical class, but it is moving that counts! Though I am a wife, mom to two “active” boys, and work full time, I always carry my gym bag with me for those “just in case” times that I can make a workout happen!
