Personal Items: Please leave personal items only in the cubby area. No bags or coats are allowed on the floor as they may become a tripping hazard to dancers. Just Dance Roanoke does not accept any liability for your personal belongings.
Shoes: As of November 2012, No street shoes are allowed on the floor, as the outside dirt can damage the surface of our floor and create sticking or slipping hazards to those dancing on the floor. Please bring your dance shoes separately to change into when you arrive. Participants must wear athletic shoes in class. No bare feet or flip flops are allowed on the dance floor.
Spectators: We have a no spectator policy at the studio. If you have friends/family who want to see what class is about, please invite them to participate in the class with us. And remember, we have new participant trials so they can try class at a discounted rate! The no spectator policy also extends to children waiting for their parents attending class.
Children: Just Dance Roanoke does not provide childcare. Well behaved children/ teens are more than welcome to sit in our lobby and wait for their parents attending class. Please note the above “No Spectator” policy as it applies to children of all ages.
Children 13 and over are welcome in all classes unless listed in the class guidelines.
DISCLAIMER: it is YOUR decision as the parent/guardian to decide if the music and dances are “appropriate” for your child. We do not use blatant BAD language, but some music and movements are suggestive. Just a warning, but we have plenty of parents with their teens taking the class with no issues.
Cell Phones: We have an “unplugged” policy at the studio, meaning no cell phones are allowed on the dance floor. Should you need to check your phone during class, we ask that you dance near the cubbies for the entire class to minimize the disruption to others in class.
Photos and Videos in Class: We have a strict no photo or video policy in class. While we highly encourage you to snap some photos with your friends and the JDR team before and after class, only members of the JDR Team are allowed to take any photographs or video in class.
Entering and Exiting the Dance Floor: As of 5.30.17, you may not sign into or participate in class after 40 minutes after the start of class. If you are staying for more than one class, you must be signed into, and pay for both classes. Please do not enter the dance floor, or the cubby area until the class change occurs. If for some reason, you need to leave class early, please feel free to stretch and cool down in our lobby area.
Food: No food, drink, or chewing gum on the floor during class or during breaks – see the above note about sticking and slipping hazards. Only water is permitted on the dance floor.
Parking: We have plenty of parking in our center’s lot both in front of JDR and down near Klub Kanine. We also have permission to use the “Lee Hi Bowling Lanes” lot next to JDR. We ask that you be respectful to our neighboring businesses Now, Then and Again and Onyx Premiere Hair Studio and reserve the spaces directly in front of their businesses for their clients.
Smoking: Smoking is prohibited on the JDR property.
Dress code: Any comfortable clothing that allows for movement is acceptable. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and light, flexible shoes with rubber soles. Shoes are required to be worn in all classes with the exception of yoga.
Health Risks: Dancing is physical exercise – you participate at your own risk and it is your responsibility to consult your physician to confirm your fitness capabilities before beginning any dance lessons. A doctors’ note may be required to begin a class if you have special physical concerns, or to return to activity after an absence from class due to injury, illness, or during pregnancy. Always make your teacher aware of any physical limitations or concerns that you may have and take class at your own pace.
