Meet Chloe! She’s a student at Radford University with a passion for fitness and fashion. She’s working on her own clothing line right now, but managed some time over the summer to design a few pieces of the new fall line for Just Dance Roanoke! You can pick up a Chloe original TWRK shirt or a Smile, Sweat, Sass & Soul at the studio today!
You’ve been taking classes with us since the studio first opened. What brought you to your first class?
My mom came home the day she took a class from Sara at a local gym years ago at the beginning of her awesome journey in Roanoke and insisted I go to her classes the next day! I did, and ever since I have been in love with JDR! I have watched Sara grow her business from the very beginning to now. I have learned so much from her about determination, work ethic, and going after your dreams no matter who is in your way. What Sara has built at JDR is truly special to me and I’m sure many would say the same. From her one-of-a kind instructors & team, to the uniqueness of her fabulous studio, to the amazing community I’m surrounded by when I walk into dance on any day is something you just can’t find anywhere else. On some of the most incredible and absolute worst days of my life, I have ended my day with JDR and I can honestly say it saved me on my bad days and only made me a better person each time good or bad. You can’t find anything like JDR and you never will. I will forever hold Sara, her team, and the amazing dance floor close to my heart no matter where life takes me.
Have you always had an interest in fashion/merchandise design? What sparked that interest?
My mind is going a mile a minute 24/7. I have always felt compelled to do something in the creative industry. I think I have a mind like a creative and I am meant to work in an industry that lets me be myself and creative at the same time. From creating my own dance choreography at a young age daily and performing for my parents and friends, taking dance lessons for most of my life, always thinking of ways how I could solve problems, having a love for writing, I have always felt like I was a creative person. I can never do the same thing everyday all day, it is just not who I am. I have worked in retail for several years ranging from many different experiences from sales associate to managing a business. Ultimately, having internships in the fashion, beauty, and wedding industry gave me the experience to open my eyes to a lot. I was able to figure out things I loved and things I didn’t. I have been blessed with so many doors being opened for me to have experiences I could never have dreamed of having at 23. The possibilities are limitless if you open your eyes to them! When I transferred to Radford in August 2015, I found that working in the design and business industry was exactly the place I needed to be on my journey in life. For now, I’ll let life lead me to exactly where I need to be. There is one thing I have learned is to always keep an open mind because you really never know where an opportunity will take you!
