I’m pleased to say that I have been working out with JDR since the beginning of April, 2011 and I have lost 28 pounds. When I lose the next 7 ounces I will have reached a milestone in this journey to become healthy, because I will no longer be considered obese. The notion of losing that stigma means so much to me and I hold on to that when I feel to tired to walk, or exercise. I remember that everyday I am moving closer to this goal. I can now walk 2 miles, and I take Body Pump. I screamed with joy when I was able to do my first push-up and now I can do ten, ‘knees.”
After a terrible car accident 6 years ago, I had to undergo a massive amount of rehabilitation. Zumba and Just Dance have turned my life around. Words cannot express how much I admire, respect, and look up to each of the Just Dance instructors. You inspire me in such incredible ways, and I owe my renewed focus and belief in myself to each of you.
I hope none of you ever overlook or minimize your ability to inspire others. The pain is still there at times for me, but it’s
secondary to the sense of accomplishment I now feel. You’ve taught me to believe in myself again, and I will never forget this life changing experience.
I have been dancing since I was three years old, never worked out until after age 40 and I still don’t like to. Treadmills and free weights are like torture for me. JDR has given me back what I have tried to prove for years – dancers really are athletes! The best thing is, it is more like a party then a workout. I have met some of the absolutely most beautiful, confident, happy and healthy people I know.
Just Dance Roanoke has been such an inspiration to me and a support group since my beginning Zumba / Just Dance classes!! With the support of Sara andthe JDR team I have been able to “transform” myself from frumpy to fabulous and regained my self confidence along the way… I’ve made so many wonderful friendships while attending your classes and cherish each of them !!
One word for Just Dance Roanoke moment…”Pre-pregnancy jeans”. Okay, not quite one word, but still a great feeling!
After almost a year of going to dance fitness, JDR and Zumba classes, I have met some of the most incredible people and formed life long friendships. I have shed another 15 pounds and am wearing a size 4/6. I have never felt better and hope that I can smile at newcomers and be supportive to them just like so many were to me. Thanks to all who helped me discover my new dreams and goals and an inner strength I never knew I had.
I have done Weight Watchers, personal trainers etc. Always lost some weight but hated going to the gym!!! I was at my highest weight when I started Zumba and Just Dance with Sara and her team of great instructors. In 6 months I have lost 24lbs and 3 dress sizes and Had FUN doing it. At 51 I got my energy and fitness back, but most importantly I got my self confidence and SEXY BACK!!! Looking forward to Just Dance After Dark!
I have spent the last several years looking for an exercise routine that would work and be fun. In late 2010 I was at the gym, walking 30 minutes on the elliptical, which by the way was not fun nor was it working, and knew I needed a change. In January of 2011, I attended my first dance class with Just Dance Roanoke. When I say first I mean first! I never once set foot in a group class ever, not aerobics, not jazzercise-none of it. I was way too self conscious and have no dance ability. But, I noticed they turned the lights down and there were women of all ages and sizes– so since I could see no one I knew, I went to the far back corner and tried it. Although I did not know what I was doing the hour flew by and I had fun, I kept coming back and learning a little more each week. The instructors were so encouraging! My 3 sons were mortified that their mother was dancing which I think even spurred me on to continue! My husband was very supportive. That was 29 pounds and 3 sizes ago, and I absolutely cannot stand to miss class now. I still have a long way to go but it sure is fun to break into a little dancing in front of my kids when a song comes on from class! If you are interested in a fun way to exercise I cannot imagine anything else can top Just Dance! You couldn’t pay me to go back on the elliptical!!!
